12:14:16 littleants Alot of breastfed babies don't actually need to be burped, but in the early weeks if she does need to be burped, you can just angle the sling upward when she is done nursing. or you can tilt her up from the bottom by supporting her with your hand under the sling.
12:14:37 littleants babies generally only need to be at an upright incline to burp not perfectly vertical.
12:15:31 madferet cool thanks!
12:15:59 Webmama_Tina i have a question for you katie, since no one else is in line yet...
12:16:11 Webmama_Tina i see people refer to ABC"...what's that?"
12:16:29 Webmama_Tina Friendly Reminder: Please do not post unless it is your turn to ask a question. If you have a question, please post a single ?" and you'll be added to the queue. Have your question ready when your name is called. THANKYOU! :)"
12:17:19 littleants Asian baby carrier.  it refers to both podeagi and mei tai
12:17:35 Webmama_Tina oh! what's the difference between the 2?
12:17:46 Webmama_Tina i just got a mei tai in the mail yesterday...LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
12:17:56 MOD_fourlittleducks Tina, have you seen my burgandy carrier?
12:18:03 MOD_fourlittleducks it is a podeagi
12:18:13 Webmama_Tina i don't remember
12:18:25 littleants the number of straps, a mei tai has 4 straps (one on each corner) podeagi has two straps (really just one long one across the top with a blanket underneath (either short or long)
12:18:43 MOD_fourlittleducks I can use it without straps on the shoulder & is less painful with my fibromyalgia
12:18:43 Webmama_Tina ahhhhhh i see!

12:21:45 littleants one of the best sources on line is mamatoto.org.  babywearing.com is also good as well as nino.org
12:22:01 littleants The first thing you need to do is figure out what you are looking to do.
12:22:20 Webmama_Tina put www in front of those and they'll be clickable
12:22:30 littleants If you are looking to distances, work around the house, mostly nurse etc.

12:28:15 Webmama_Tina katie you still typing? :)
12:28:42 Webmama_Tina oh is leahida done? :)
12:29:29 leahida i think so...thanks!  i'll check those out
12:29:40 angela What is the best  type of sling to nurse in?  I have a hotsling pouch that my newborn loved but now that she is almost 3months she doesn't like to nurse in it.  I think her head gets squished LOL!
12:29:47 littleants If you can tell me more about what you are looking for,i can help you out.
12:30:00 angela sorry
12:30:01 leahida who, me?
12:30:13 leahida oh ok... probably nursing, mostly at home, at first
12:30:23 littleants by three months you should be able to nurse her sitting up in a carrier.
12:30:46 Webmama_Tina finishing up:  leahida , then: angela  tcmtracey
12:30:50 littleants you can nurse in almost any carrier some are easier than others.
12:31:00 Webmama_Tina sorry for the confusion. :)
12:31:05 hypechick ?
12:32:03 Webmama_Tina up now: angela....next up: tcmtracey  hypechick
12:32:29 littleants a structured carrier like an ergo or bjor would be the hardest. the cloth options can all be done with a little adjsutment
12:33:35 angela so is it better/easier with the baby's head on the side where the sling hangs from the shoulder?
12:33:35 littleants slings are easy for first time users, but they can get tiring on your shoulder for extended trips.  I like to use a wrap and then you can either tie it like a sling for nursing or strap the baby on tight if you are going the distance.
12:34:10 littleants if the child is sitting up on you hip, you want to nurse on the opposite side of where the sling is.
12:34:17 littleants if it is a two shoulder carrier, it doesnt' matter
12:35:12 angela oh i see so the head is sticking out of the sling?
12:35:59 Webmama_Tina up now: angela....next up: tcmtracey hypechick
12:37:55 buzzy_bee hi
12:38:09 Webmama_Tina hi  buzzy_bee !!
12:38:26 Webmama_Tina if you have a babywearing question, post a single question mark and i'll put you in line to ask. we're taking turns. :)
12:38:31 Webmama_Tina Welcome to this week's Mothering Sponsored chat! This is a moderated chat. Please make sure you read and fully understand the Moderated Chat Instructions before participating in this chat. Instructions can be found here: http://www.mommychats.com/modrules.htm  ...A Friendly Reminder: Please do not post unless it is your turn to ask a question. If you have a question, please post a single ?" and you'll be added to the queue. Have your question ready when your name is called."
12:38:32 littleants if the child is sitting up, it would be like a hip carry with them nursing.  http://www.littleants.com/wallabyways/wallabyways.html  the last picture is side lying nursing, the picture  aboveit would be how to nurse on the hip, you just pull the child closer and lift up your shirt. (this is when nursing shirts can be nice)
12:38:56 hypechick I guess I'll go next? I'll be a first time mom and am wondering about good slings for nursing newborns.  I'm pretty small at 5 ft and 115 pre preg weight.
12:39:07 littleants oh, you might also have to drop the rings down so the baby is lower on your hip
12:39:08 Webmama_Tina next up: tcmtracey hypechick
12:39:19 buzzy_bee ?
12:39:22 angela oh thanks!
12:39:37 hypechick I'll be nursing mostly at home at first but would like th option to get out of the house pretty soon after birth.
12:39:42 Webmama_Tina next up: tcmtracey, hypechick,  buzzy_bee
12:39:48 tcmtracey I am an acupuncturist and I am considering trying to work on my regular clients with my baby in a carrier.  My sacrum bothers me, and I am worried about the bending over....is using a carrier to work feasible for someone like me?
12:39:59 Webmama_Tina hypechick you're after tcmtracey. :)
12:40:02 Webmama_Tina hold on :)
12:40:05 hypechick oops, sorry
12:40:12 Webmama_Tina no worries, it happens ;)
12:40:19 MOD_fourlittleducks heehee
12:40:28 littleants i really like stretchy wraps being about the same size I am only 2 inches taller and it keeps the weight well distrbiuted
12:40:51 littleants You can easily pop" the baby in and out and you can tuck them in a cradle hold and nurse."
12:41:06 littleants it is also really easy to put on since you get it all secure and the add baby.
12:41:56 Webmama_Tina katie are you answering hypechick or tcmtracey? just want to clarify for them. :)
