13:12:47 chiedza my son (3.5) is a VERY restless sleeper -- wakes many times a night and cries immediately -- is there anything homeopathic, diet, or otherwise that might help?  I am a walking zombie because his sleep habits are ruining my own sleep.
13:13:42 net ?
13:14:14 RandallNeustaedter Sleep is a complicated issue, but there are Chinese herbal formulas and homeopathic medicines that can help. It really takes an individualized approach so I encourage you to see a holistic practitioner to sort it out.

13:15:31 JBird Looking for flu prevention for my 1-yr-old. We see two homeopaths - do the Ainsworth anti cold/flu every 2 wks, nurse on demand, no sugar in diet.  son is nonvaxed due to autism epidemic in family. had croup in dec (sequential homeopathy).  what else?
13:16:07 Kimmii Hope I'm in the right chatroom.  Is this where Randall is speaking?  If so, Kimmii here.  Hi.
13:16:46 lisa3491 Hi Webmama--I just joined as well--I have a question too.
13:17:20 RandallNeustaedter I like colostrum for kids if they are not sensitive to dairy. Nu Life is good. Of course kids at this age can also take a high quality fish oil supplement, cod liver oil during the winter. But breastfeeding is the best preventive! Keep it up.
13:17:38 Webmama_Tina Kimmii you're in teh right room, we're taking turns.... :)

13:19:05 ildiko sorry :) accident
13:19:14 ildiko it was not my turn yet :(
13:19:31 ildiko sorry!!!!!
13:19:35 RandallNeustaedter I like ARG. My main concern about colostrum is that it is from an organic source.
13:19:50 ildiko How can I find that out?
13:20:18 rainsmom Hi...My 5yo daughter has eczema.  She sees a naturopath who has recommended flaxseed oil, sulpher, and hydrating the skin with nonscented lotions. She is unvazed, vegetarian and i buy only organic.  there seems to be no relation to dairy allergy in her out
13:20:21 RandallNeustaedter Go to the website and ask the manufacturer.

13:21:47 cynthiam ?
13:22:12 Orluchik Hello!
13:22:23 lisa3491 ?
13:22:55 RandallNeustaedter Eczema is inherited or caused by vaccines or allergic reactions. I assume you use laundry soap and cotton clothing. So the next step is Chinese herbs. An excellent formula is Fire Fighter made by Chinese Modular Solutions and available from Kan Herbs, but only to doctors. So talk to your naturopath. I would recommend switching you fish oil, not flax, and adding vit E 200 IU.
13:23:38 RandallNeustaedter Anything else?
13:23:43 rainsmom how do i give her the Vit E?
13:24:03 RandallNeustaedter Stick a hole in the capsule and put it into food.

13:33:35 imdanish2 ?
13:33:35 RandallNeustaedter Holistic and naturopathic are usually synonyms. Homeopathy denotes use of homeopathic meds. Chinese medicine includes acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and massage techniques within a traditional Chinese medicine philosophy. I am an acupuncturist and homeopath by training.

13:37:38 RandallNeustaedter It is not appropriate to treat ear infections with antibiotics. Just for the record. You can see a professional homeopath and get a constitutional medicine that fits his entire picture. There is an excellent formula for ear infections made by Golden Flower Herbs and available to licensed practitioners.

13:40:17 RandallNeustaedter Ticks - you can use the natural citronella aromatic preventives available at health food stores. Cover kids legs while hiking and tuck pants into their socks. I don't think there is any specific reliable method for preventing lyme disease.

13:41:55 cynthiam Hi Dr R! I'd like to know if oscillococconium can be used to prevent as well as treat flu. I'd also like to hear your recommendations for prevention and treatment of the bird flu. Thanks!
13:42:08 jess ?
13:42:16 skrhythm ?
13:42:40 Elektra ?
13:43:15 cynthiam oscillococcinum that is...
13:43:29 RandallNeustaedter Oxcillo is a treatment for flu, the preventive is Influenzinum available from Boiron 800 blu-tube. I don't believe in bird flu transmission between humans. I assume you don't mean preventive handling of chickens which is a huge subject.
13:44:25 cynthiam However we may contract it - as I have heard the media spreading the word of some having contracted it from eating an ill fowl.
13:45:24 RandallNeustaedter The bird flu hype is an excellent way to make billions of dollars on Tamiflu, which we are stockpiling to the great satisfaction of drug companies.
13:46:09 RandallNeustaedter Unless you live in Thailand or Viet Nam or Turkey you don't have to worry about sick birds right now.

13:46:37 cynthiam I live in Saudi Arabia. Would Influenzinum be an effective preventative against bird flu? Would it be something you recommend one take during this bird flu scare?
13:46:47 cynthiam Oops. Sorry about that...
13:46:47 RandallNeustaedter You mean you are addicted to sugar?
13:46:59 lisa3491 yes and carbs
13:47:08 Webmama_Tina no worries cynthia...we get cross posts sometimes. :)
13:48:09 RandallNeustaedter Take 400 mcg chromium 2 or 3 times per day for sugar control. Eat more frequent meals with protein (not soy). Nursing frequently every hour or two is normal.
13:48:47 abelsmom ?
13:48:56 RandallNeustaedter Influenzinum has not been shown to prevent bird flu. But I would not worry about it.

13:50:25 RandallNeustaedter Ignore reports about bird flu. Subscribe to my newsletter at cure-guide.com and I will keep you posted if you need to know anything new.
13:51:04 RandallNeustaedter Injected flu vaccines do not transmit the virus. Only the nasal spray vaccine.
13:51:34 kimmedlin thanks...THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW

13:52:34 mommie1 she only nurses 3 x's if I am lucky
13:53:22 RandallNeustaedter I do not recommend multi vits at this age. No soy. It depletes mineral absorption and depresses the thyroid gland. Give her fruits and veges, soups, egg yolks. No grains until 12 months.

14:01:54 jess and any other help for weaning ideas? thank you
14:03:18 RandallNeustaedter No rice for kids under 12 months. Babies should be checked for anemia by a doctor at 8 or 9 months when iron stores tend to wear out. The best herbal formula TCM for GI sxs in babies is Grow and Thrive by CMS (Kan herbs) Rx only. homeopathy is perfectly safe.
14:03:29 RandallNeustaedter You are weaning your 8 mo old??
14:03:35 Webmama_Tina my system just went screwy....bear with me mamas
14:04:07 jess no but looking to the future
14:04:12 RandallNeustaedter I recommend that babies nurse for 12 mos if at all possible, longer is always better.
14:04:32 jess i agree :)
14:05:34 RandallNeustaedter Babies will get iron from green veges. Make soup in a blender with kale, chard, etc. added. Egg yolks are an appropriate food after 6 mos, not whites.
14:05:52 jess thank you
14:06:25 RandallNeustaedter You can also freeze some cooked organic chicken liver and shave it into food for babies as an iron source.
14:06:48 jess oh, and is kelp good too?
14:08:16 RandallNeustaedter Weaning - you don't want to give formula unles you must, so nurse until they are eating lots of solids if possible. Then start cutting out the easiest feedings during the day. Nurse for sleeping. If you are cosleeping forget weaning. The only way to do that is to leave the baby with dad or grandma for a weekend and cold turkey the night.

14:21:02 Webmama_Tina kimmedlin, i think you're up! :)
14:21:10 kimmedlin white rice has gluten, is that why do not recommend the rice cereal?  Our local heatlh food store has gluten free white rice...would you allow/recommend" it?"
14:22:06 RandallNeustaedter Do not give grains to children under 12 months. They contribute to allergies and intestinal irritation. The complex carbs and proteins are too hard for them to process.

14:22:38 ildiko The cows providing the milk used for Cytolog are BSE-free and are grain and pasture fed.Every batch of Cytolog is tested to be free of antibiotics, bacteria, heavy metals and other contaminants. This is what I found about the Colostrum by ARG.
14:22:48 ildiko Do you think it is safe then?
14:22:56 RandallNeustaedter yes
14:23:01 ildiko thanks!

14:23:48 rainsmom my 5yo eats organic yogurt/cheese...but I dont offer cows milk.  for beverages I offer water mostly, some organic juice
14:24:05 rainsmom what are your thoughts on cows milk...?
14:24:12 Webmama_Tina 6min left and 1 question left...perfect!
14:24:30 rainsmom she does have almond or rice with her cereal
14:24:37 rainsmom milk that is
14:25:03 ildiko ?
14:25:17 RandallNeustaedter Cows milk causes lots of problems, allergies, mucus, intestinal gas and irritation. But some kids can tolerate it. Do not give homogenized milk, and us unpasteurized (raw) if possible.
14:25:30 RandallNeustaedter Almond and rice milk are fine.
14:25:30 Webmama_Tina At this time, the queue is full. Questions already in line will be asked, but we cannot take anymore today. Sorry for the inconvenience.

14:26:37 ElijahsMommy I stopped breastfeeding my son @ 9 mos due to me having major surgery....I have heard that I can start back-up. Is it really possible after 3mo, and should I even consider that?...what is diff btwn soy and organic...what about rice milk also>
14:26:38 Webmama_Tina last question..... elijah's momomy
14:27:15 RandallNeustaedter As I said soy depletes minerals. Search on mercola.com for everything you need to know about the evils of soy.
14:28:23 Webmama_Tina www.mercola.com  (clickable)  :)
14:28:32 ElijahsMommy what about the breastfeeding
14:28:35 RandallNeustaedter Talk to La Leche or a lactation consultant about re-establishing your milk supply. It is possible. Even women who have not been pregnant can develop milk
14:28:54 ElijahsMommy should I?
14:29:05 ElijahsMommy will it really benefit him
14:29:11 RandallNeustaedter I don't understand your question about soy and organic
