ok, i'm going to post the blurb from mothering's
email...that covers things for today's chat....hold
on... |

Webmama_Tina |
HOT MOTHERING TOPIC THRUST INTO LIMELIGHT For nearly 30
years, Mothering has informed our readers on diverse
aspects of what we believe to be “the issue of our
times,” vaccinations. Since 1999, Mothering has
consistently reported on breaking developments linking
vaccines, thimerosal, and autism. Last week, the topic
we’ve covered for six years got its most high-profile
exposure yet when a new article by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
titled “Deadly Immunity” was published simultaneously by
Rolling Stone and Salon.com. This week, Mothering.com
will be highlighting our extensive cache of information
and resources, as well as featuring a link to “Deadly
Immunity”, along with interviews and live chats with
prominent members of the autism community. Check out the
daily features at www.mothering.com. Join us Thursday at
2 PM Eastern, 1PM Central, 12PM Rocky Mountain, 11AM
Pacific for a live chat with mother, author, and autism
activist Sarah Bridges. Her son is one of only 1,800
kids that the government has officially acknowledged in
Vaccine Court as being vaccine injured. Don’t miss this
chance to chat with Sarah, a mom who challenged
convention, took on the government, and won, on behalf
of her son. |

little about your background and experience |
|

and when you are done, let us know that you are ready
for your first question. :) |

It's great to be here. The blurb above tells how I got
started, and it's been quite a ride. I was trained as a
scientist and then fell into this after my son was brain
damaged. I have 4 great kids in all. |
|
13:12:24 |

zakers, you're up. :) |
|
13:14:59 |
zakers_mama |
OK sorry making ds lunch too |
|
13:15:28 |
zakers_mama |
first I would like to know if you've also heard children
w/milk allergy and/or a fam. history of seizures should
not get the pertussis vax |
|
13:15:46 |
zakers_mama |
and second, do you know of any link between developing
food allergies and vaxs |
|
13:16:14 |
slonatejones |
? |
|
13:16:28 |
sarahbridges |
I believe that children with family history of seizures
should not get pertussis and that milk allergy may
indicate imuune issues which would say no pertussis |
|
13:17:08 |
sarahbridges |
There is research going that thimerosal suppresses
immune functioning causing many allergies. It is very
typical in these kids. Next question |
|
13:17:15 |
zakers_mama |
THANK YOU........would you have any insight as to WHY I
had to find this out through my own research after my
son had 3 doses of pertussis vax?? |
|
13:17:54 |
sarahbridges |
I think you are asking why they develop allergies and it
ties back to immune damage that mercury (thimerosal)
causes in kids. |
|
13:18:18 |
zakers_mama |
*supposedly* though my 8 mo old didn't get
thimerosal..... |
|
13:18:28 |
sarahbridges |
Also, milk amplifies the effect of the mercury in
thimerosal actually making reactions to it worse (this
is from mice studies) |
|
13:18:51 |
sarahbridges |
You can find out if your child did or didn't get
thimerosal by getting the lot number. Next |

zakers_mama |
WOW......something else I didn't know......the only
thing I do know is my son did not have allergies before
his 2 mo shots and he started showing signs of it about
3 weeks after his first set....which I KNEW I shouldn't
have gotten... |

I didn't get my first two children vaccinated at all. I
have a 2.5 month old, who got the DTaP two weeks ago,
because of pressure from the ped. during a curreng
epidemic."" |
|
13:22:54 |
Mimiheart |
She's been congested ever since. Is this one of the
possible reactions? Should I not get her any more? |
|
13:23:48 |
sarahbridges |
It is such a personal question--and one contingent on
how you understand your child's health. On the good
note--DTaP is now thimerosal free and accelular. I did
give my children DT, though not the booster which only
comes with mercury (5 and 7 year old shot) |
|
13:24:45 |
sarahbridges |
The other thing to remember is that estrogen is
protective regarding mercury and testosterone amplifies
it (hence 1/80 boys with autism). Next |

it seems like all the fear around vaccines centers
around thimerosal....is there other ingredients we
should be worried about? |
|
13:27:35 |
Webmama_Tina |
and also...are the current vaccines truly thimerosal
free? i know the flu shot is not... |
|
13:27:57 |
sarahbridges |
Good question. Thimerosal has been the biggest, but I
would still watch MMR, and some of the newer ones (Heb B
has had numerous adverse reports) |
|
13:27:58 |
Webmama_Tina |
seems like i read somewhere that they say they are
thimerosal free and some are just lower doses....don't
remember exactly |
|
13:28:35 |
sarahbridges |
The infant vaccines largely have only trace amounts
(probably ok) thought the flu shot has so much mercury
you would need to weigh 275 pounds to take it. |
|
13:29:08 |
sarahbridges |
Also, many many boosters still have it (most required
shots)--and all infant vaccines in developing countries
now have mercury thanks to our exports. next |

What do you know about consuming tuna during pregnancy
and early childhood in relation to murcury
poisoning/autism? |
|
13:30:34 |
sarahbridges |
I am writing an article for Organic Style about that now
and know that it is VERY dangerous during pregnancy and
should be avoided for young children. I would stay away
from any large fish and severely limit other fish. One
toxic serving at a sensitive window time can be very
detriment |

vaccinations you reccommend for babies and can a
physician refuse to see you if you dont get them |

good's interest--though can be horrendous for individual

Scandanavian countries do fewer shots and at an older
age. I have deferred as many as I can so my children

I have done that--though you need to first separate what

I have to say that when my child was first injured
Mothering Mag was the only place that talked about it. |

|
13:57:51 |
Webmama_Tina |
yeah mothering rocks, lol! :) |
|
13:57:59 |
zakers_mama |
they're STILL the only place that talks about it! |
|
13:58:11 |
Webmama_Tina |
i have to say i was very disappointed with the abc
coverage of that article last nite... |
|
13:58:13 |
Webmama_Tina |
did you see it? |
|
13:58:24 |
zakers_mama |
well I mean as in talking to other people who don't vax
and having articles about vax injury etc |
|
13:58:26 |
Webmama_Tina |
they basically refuted it all and said that robert
kennedy had no expertise in the area |
|
13:58:42 |
jen |
hopefully someday there will be NOMORE talk of it it
wii be in the past! |
|
13:58:51 |

Montel had a fascinating show the other day, I may start
watching him regularly-despite the fact that I don't
watch TV. |
|
13:58:51 |
sarahbridges |
I was horribly upset. They actually did a fair piece with
him a week ago, then under pressure from the top were
told to recut " it and add CDC and IOM--all of whom have
terrible conflicts." |
|
13:59:07 |
Webmama_Tina |
yeah they definitely did NOT show both sides |
|
13:59:13 |
Webmama_Tina |
they should have had experts supporting it as well |
|
13:59:13 |
zakers_mama |
I LOVED that show, it even got my MOM on my side with
the vaxing! |
|
13:59:33 |
zakers_mama |
can I ask *one more* question? |
|
13:59:34 |
sarahbridges |
Bobby K also was rejected by NYT (we went and presented
to the edit board) and very few places would even
discuss what he is doing as it is 'too political"
06/23/05" |
|
13:59:39 |
sarahbridges |
sure |
|
13:59:42 |
Webmama_Tina |
lol zakers |
|
13:59:52 |
eva&giosmom |
zankers was it the one with yes on vacinating?? |
|
14:00:02 |
eva&giosmom |
i seen that one along time ago |
|
14:00:04 |
Webmama_Tina |
geez, you'd think people would actually listen to
someone big like that...argh |
|
14:00:17 |
zakers_mama |
Do you think I'm insane for thinking my child's milk
allergy is a result of his vaccinations? |
|
14:00:44 |
zakers_mama |
I mean, I have *never* heard of a child suddenly
developing colicky symptoms and an allergy at 3 months
old... |
|
14:00:47 |
Mimiheart |
I don't, but then again, I think my daughter's
congestion is due to the vaccines |
|
14:00:48 |
sarahbridges |
I don't. THere is a lot of research showing thimerosal
(if your child got that) wreaks havoc on immune
function. |
|
14:00:52 |
zakers_mama |
til my kid |
|
14:01:13 |
sarahbridges |
I was saying I don't think it is crazy to correlate milk
allergy with vaccines. |
|
14:01:25 |
Webmama_Tina |
its all so scary |
|
14:01:29 |
Webmama_Tina |
damned if you do and damned if you don't |
|
14:01:31 |
zakers_mama |
I think there is trace in the Pediarix otherwise he
didn't get *any* |
|
14:01:33 |
Webmama_Tina |
hate this issue |
|
14:02:06 |
Webmama_Tina |
are there any other websites you would like to refer us
to before you go sarah? |
|
14:02:11 |
eva&giosmom |
yeah webmama ...me and my dh had some problems cause of
that dang seminar he went to |
|
14:02:13 |
sarahbridges |
It is really awful. But follow your gut and stand up if
people push on you. Even after the doctors admitted my
son was brain damaged by pertussis, one of them tried to
give it again. |
|
14:02:14 |
Webmama_Tina |
i can put them up on the site |
|
14:02:15 |
zakers_mama |
and what do you think of a vax like Pediarix? I didn't
WANT to consent to it........but my ped talked me into
it, I really hadn't researched the whole thing yet so I
didn't really know what to say... |
|
14:02:33 |
Mimiheart |
What I don't understand is because of this epidemic, the
pediatricians are trying to get kids vaccinated against
purtussis more than the regular vaccine schedule...I
can't figure out how that could help. |
|
14:03:13 |
zakers_mama |
It wears off what is the point? Even my really pro vax
friend is against chicken pox vax because of that... |
|
14:03:22 |
Webmama_Tina |
pertussis is a survivable disease too...scary to watch
kids with it, but i have a friend who all her kids have
survived it |
|
14:03:24 |
sarahbridges |
The problem with that argument is that in recent
outbreaks at least half of the kids with it were
vaccinated. Again--you need to go by what is right for
you--read up--and then tell doctors, I appreciate your
beliefs, and hope you will respect mine"" |
|
14:03:39 |
zakers_mama |
sarah, did your son get the 'P' or the 'aP'? |
|
14:03:54 |
sarahbridges |
He got the P they pulled off the market 10 months after
his injury |
|
14:04:00 |
Webmama_Tina |
ok i'm sure sarah needs to go now... :) we could
probably go on all day discussing this very serious
issue |
|
14:04:00 |
zakers_mama |
:( |
|
14:04:01 |
Webmama_Tina |
:) |
|
14:04:16 |
Webmama_Tina |
we really appreciate your time sarah! |
|
14:04:18 |
Mimiheart |
my daughter got it on June 8th-2 month check up, and
they want her to have it again on July 5th. |
|
14:04:28 |
colletta101 |
Sarah is right moms. Always go with your gut, do not
give in to the docs or anyone. Once your kid is damaged
there is no going back. |
|
14:04:36 |
sarahbridges |
I do need to run, but again, thanks so much for having
me--and do visit nomercury.org--it is run by a medical
family and fantastic! |
