who is a resident of Eureka, being asked
to stop nursing her baby on an American

After putting her name into a google
search, I came across your website,
where it appears that Mrs. Tetrault is
the Vice President of the of the board
of directors. I wanted to get in contact
with Mrs. Tetrault to see if she would
like to speak with me regarding the
situation as well as offer up any
assistance in filing a grievance or any
support that she might need. I have a
database of thousands of nursing mothers
and supportive fathers and family
members who are appalled at the
treatment Mrs. Tetrault received. The
other organizations that I work with
have started letter writing campaigns
and have actually gotten another airline
to change their policy regarding
breastfeeding on board the plane. |

We cannot act however without Mrs.
Tetrault blessing. I implore you to
forward this email to her and encourage
her to get in contact with me when she
feels comfortable. If anything, please
pass the word along to her that she is
not alone. There are millions of
breastfeeding supporters standing ready
to defend her and her child's right to
nurse when ever, where ever. If the
K.K Mrs. Tetrault is not the same woman
in this article that I have referenced,

While I was waiting to hear from Mrs
Tetrault, I spoke with the national
director of Promom, the advocacy site
that is known for their 3 minute
activist emails that anyone can fill out
and send in support of a wide variety of
breastfeeding causes. Promom’s 3MA
worked so well once that they got
JetBlue to retrain their inflight staff
regarding breastfeeding mothers. I knew
that Promom and BFIN could work together
to make something happen for this woman. |

She then called me the next day. We
spoke for a while and said how touched
she was that I reached out to help her
like this. SHe knew something had to be
done. I got her in touch with Carrie
from promom right away and after a great
conversation Mrs. Tetrault. gave her
blessing for promom to go ahead with the
3MA. RIGHT AFTER they got off the
phone Mrs. Tetrault.got a phone call
from the Head of Public relations at the
airline. He stated that the employee had
been put on Admin. Leave and they were
going to retrain their employees on how
to deal with a situation like hers. He
apologized greatly to her. |

This morning, the Public Health Council
approved revisions to Massachusetts'
Hospital Licensure Regulations for
Maternal and Newborn Services that
prohibit the direct marketing of
commercial formula materials to mothers,
including the distribution of commercial
formula discharge bags. The revised
regulations also include additional
provisions to strengthen breastfeeding
education and support in the hospital
setting. Thanks to all of you who
assisted and supported the Department
during this revision process. We hope
you are as excited as we are about these
important changes! In the near future,
the Department will be providing
additional information and guidance to
hospitals to help put these policies
into place. |
